Clinical Information

  • Distribution of the diseases caused by Candida are worldwide and can affect any age group.
  • Most serious reactions occur in individuals with weakened immune systems.
  • Secondary infections are common if a person already has tuberculosis, malignancy, or viral infections like the flu.
  • Candida can cause lesions in the mouth, vagina, bronchi and spread to these places to produce septicemia, endocarditis, or meningitis.
  • Candida is a common pathogen and prefers to attack women. It affects mucous membranes of the mouth and vagina and weakens the body when its byproducts get into the blood stream. It can also cause eroosive skin and nail infections, which are hard to heal.
  • This mold also accounts for many cases of people with symptoms like those of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
  • Candida is usually found in bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry areas in larger quantities. It likes moist areas; under sinks, around the dishwasher, behind the refrigerator, etc. Opening cabinet doors under the sink and leaving the washer and dryer doors open at night will help keep these places dry.
